North Liverpool & South Sefton Transformational Projects
Senior officers from the Football Quarter organisation were in attendance at today’s North Liverpool & South Sefton Strategic Regeneration Framework Delivery Plan stakeholder’s event which outlined key actions for Liverpool Waters, The Port of Liverpool, Project Jennifer, An Environmental Technology Zone, A Low Carbon Hub, Stanley Dock, Everton Park, A GreenPrint for Growth and, most important of all for supporters of KEIOC and the Spirit of Shankly, who together have diligently campaigned for three years to draw attention to the economic potential of the area around the football grounds and the realisation that football in the city of Liverpool is not only a key economic driver for market visibility, tourism and leisure but can become a catalyst for the wider regeneration of Walton, Anfield, Kirkdale and Breckfield areas through the development of educational, recreational, leisure and community facilities along with tangible benefits designed to attract business to the Mayoral Development Zone [MDZ] of North Liverpool which The Football Quarter forms part of.
Liverpool Vision’s Director of Programmes, Ian McCarthy, introduced the premier of a short film promoting the Strategic Regeneration Framework which includes The Football Quarter and can be seen on this site. Vision is the city’s economic development company and was established at a critical stage in the city’s urban and economic renaissance.
Here's what Liverpool Vision said.......
Liverpool Vision is enabling The City of Liverpool to complete and accelerate the considerable economic recovery and growth we have witnessed over the last decade. We are focused on building a strong, sustainable economy which can compete more effectively in international markets than ever before.
Liverpool Vision’s focus on The Football Quarter of the City of Liverpool will concentrate on:
Building a wider cultural and visitor offer around the existing assets
Realising the economic potential of two famous Liverpool clubs
Relocation or redevelopment options
The project encapsulates their plans for growth, as part of the wider regeneration of the area in which both clubs are currently assessing their options.
The football stadia are astride a key gateway to North Liverpool, linked by the recently refurbished Stanley Park; together they have the potential to transform the area.
In advance of the redevelopment proposals of the respective clubs, activity will be progressed to engender commitment to the comprehensive regeneration of the area, and to develop a coherent and integrated key stakeholder community. Working closely with the key stakeholders, key objectives and projects will include:
Finalise and secure endorsement of the Action plan – August 2012
