Everton and Liverpool FC urged to consider 'common sense' ground share

A leading investment banker has advised Liverpool and Everton to re-consider plans for a shared stadium.

Seymour Pierce chairman Keith Harris believes that uniting Merseyside's old firm in an arena, likely to be the Reds' earmarked Stanley Park site, would be 'common sense' and firmly believes that two Premier League clubs will share a stadium 'at some stage'.

Liverpool owner John Henry has previously insisted that the plans to enter into a ground share with their local rivals would be a 'non-starter'" if the club's supporters voiced their opposition whilst Everton, by contrast, have opened themselves to the suggestion.

But speaking at London's SportAccord conference, Harris, who brokered takeovers for the likes of Aston Villa, Chelsea and Manchester City, cited the examples of Milan's San Siro and Munich's Allianz Arena as a case for clubs doubling up.

He said: "It has worked well in Milan and Munich, so why not, it makes common sense."

Fenway Sports Group are understood to be eager to redevelop Liverpool's current Anfield home but a decision is yet to be undertaken whilst Everton are still considering their options following the collapse of the 'Destination Kirkby' project in December 2009.
